Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum

Birthplace of American railroading, Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum commemorates the B&O Railroad - America's first commercial long-distance railroad - and houses the oldest, most historic and most comprehensive American railroad collections in the world. A National Historic Landmark, B&O Railroad Museum offers unrivalled collections, magnificent buildings and artifacts that interpret early American railroading, particularly the Baltimore & Ohio. Dating from the beginning of American railroading, the collection contains 200 pieces of locomotives and rolling stock that provide a continuum of railroad history from 1830 through the present, and thousands of artifacts that provide a glimpse of railroading through tools, exquisite time-pieces, fine art, presentation silver, uniforms, furniture, and memorabilia. See historically significant pieces from the B&O and Maryland railroads as well as the finest collection of 19th century steam locomotives. This 40-acre museum also features scale models and toy trains and encompasses historic structures, bridges, earthworks, and archaeological resources. Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

USS Constellation Museum

Located at Pier One on Baltimore Harbor, the USS Constellation is the only surviving Civil War battleship still afloat. Her naval history includes the capture of three slave ships off the coast of Africa, freeing 700 people, and the delivery of famine relief supplies to Ireland. Antietam National Battlefield

Antietam National BattlefieldFamous for its role in American history, Antietam National Battlefield was established in 1890 to commemorate the bloodiest day of the Civil War when 23,000 soldiers were killed, wounded or missing after 12 hours of savage combat on Sep. 17, 1862. The Battle of Antietam ended the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia's first invasion into the North and led to Abraham Lincoln's issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation. Located in the Great Valley region of the Appalachian Ridge, the battlefield encompasses 3,250 acres of farmland, pastures, woods and limestone forests. Take the 8.5 mile auto tour from Dunker Church through the historic battlefield and make 11 historic stops along the way. Fort McHenry National Monument & Historic Shrine
